If you don’t know me already - I’m Lucy, the woman behind Custard Cloth. I just wanted to tell you all a little bit about me and my brand, for those of you who are new here!
I studied Fashion and Design at the London College of Fashion, shortly after this, I interned at Giles Deacon and Johnny Loves Rosie.
My first job in fashion was with Harriet Sanders, she taught me to make leather handbags, we had a lot of fun together! I then went on to design accessories for many brands including, ASOS, Topman/Topshop, Oliver Bonas, River Island and many more, this also allowed me to travel to many countries.
In 2019 I Ianded what I thought was my dream job, designing handbags for a large well-known brand, shortly after I lost my job, this was a huge blow. A couple of months later, I got back on my feet in a new role, which was then shortly after taken away due to covid.
Custard Cloth was born! I’ve always wanted my own brand and I couldn’t face looking for a job which didn’t exist. It was time to graft! I wanted to design accessories that weren’t on the high-street and just really design what I love and hope it’s well received.
Starting a brand is one of the hardest things I have ever done and it has taken awhile to step back and feel proud of what I have achieved and learnt so far and not just feel permanently stressed about paying the bills! I’m feeling positive and excited to see where Custard Cloth goes this year!
Also incase you were wondering; I was born in London, raised in Shepperton, Surrey with my Mum, Dad and 3 older brothers and I’m now living in SW London with my partner. It was my brother Adam who nicknamed me Custard as a kid, I loved eating it cold and getting it all over my face!
